 Facilities: Beowulf Cluster

The simulation of very large-scale brain networks composed of up to one million neurons and a billion synaptic connections is computationally very demanding and intensive.  To perform such simulations a parallel multiprocessor supercomputer is necessary.  We use a Beowulf cluster consisting of 70 processors, 128 GB of memory, and 500 GB of disk space.  The cluster includes 35 2-procesor IBM xSeries330 nodes, of which 64 processors are allocated exclusively for parallel computations.
